PyroBubbles® Fire Extinguishing Agent

The growing demand for batteries also requires stricter fire protection standards. This applies to many areas such as the manufacturing, transportation, storage, disposal, and recycling of lithium batteries/accumulators or cells. PyroBubbles® are an ideal cushioning and filling solution for the storage and transportation of lithium-ion batteries (UN 3480, UN 3090). Primarily made of silicon dioxide with an average particle size of 0.5 to 5 mm, they are ideal for extinguishing or controlling difficult fires where conventional extinguishing agents fail or would cause significant damage.

Certified (MPA Dresden – Germany) PyroBubbles® are suitable for solid and liquid combustible substances in fire classes A, B, D, and F and are resistant to temperatures up to approximately 1050°C. In the event of a fire, the granules melt and form a closed, thermally insulating layer around the fire source, eliminating oxygen. Combustible reaction gases are reduced by the pores of the beads. The high specific heat capacity absorbs thermal energy, and the temperature is reduced due to the cooling effect. In addition, the combustible material is protected by the low thermal conductivity. PyroBubbles® are also suitable for extinguishing metal and liquid fires.

For the safe transport of defective and critical lithium-ion batteries in accordance with special regulations SV 376, SV 377, and SV 310 of the ADR and packaging instructions P908, P909, P910, and P911.
