HookBox Heavy Quarantine Container

The HookBox Heavy Duty Quarantine Container allows for the safe transport and isolation of damaged electric vehicles. After an accident and during transport, electric vehicles pose a risk of delayed thermal runaway. A damaged battery poses a high risk for several days as it can still ignite.

With an unladen weight of 1,800 kg, the Quarantine Container can be attached to a dump truck or swap body truck using a lifting hook (DIN 30722 standard). It can also be loaded onto flatbed vehicles and trailers. Thanks to a 1.5 m high loading ramp, damaged vehicles are pulled into the container using a cable winch attached to the carrier vehicle. A hatch is provided for this purpose for the towing cable. It is also possible to drive roadworthy electric vehicles into the container or load them using a crane. This watertight and floodable ramp ensures safe containment of contaminated goods and/or cooling water.

For the safe storage of dangerous goods during transport and quarantine operations, the HookBox container can be combined with a fire blanket. Certified for use up to 1,300°C peak temperatures, the Premium M fire blanket, certified to DIN SPEC 91489, acts as a fire barrier. It helps control the fire and slow its spread, with a significant and immediate reduction in smoke and temperature. Toxic vapors remain under the blanket. It is also possible to add the SprayJet HV water mist cooling ramp to ensure cooling action for the battery pack of an electric vehicle. In extreme cases, firefighters can connect directly to the integrated extinguishing systems via suitable fittings to flood the watertight container if necessary. With a sidewall height of 1,200 mm, this water level is sufficient to completely submerge the vehicle’s lithium-ion batteries. The watertight ramp thus ensures safe containment of contaminated goods and/or cooling water.

The container can be optionally equipped with the innovative temperature monitoring system – Vlicover IoT, which continuously informs the driver of the load status and triggers an alarm in the event of an incident. In the event of an abnormal rise in temperature of the battery or goods, the driver can safely set down the transport container in time and initiate fire prevention measures.
