Emergency Plug – Just plug it in and the electric car is safe

Quickly create a safe working environment for first responders working on any type of electric or hybrid vehicle.

In the event of an accident involving an electric vehicle, how can you be sure the system is powered down? That the car won’t suddenly start moving?

The Emergency Plug was developed to prevent unpredictable movements of electric or hybrid vehicles in an emergency, as well as during regular maintenance.

How do you know if a car is ready to drive?

In combustion vehicles, the sound of the engine running is a warning signal, helping to warn of potential dangers. In contrast, electric and hybrid cars are silent, even when ready to start. A simple press of the accelerator pedal is enough to immediately activate the electric motors, which deliver their full power and torque, without any audible warning to those nearby.

In most cases, the high power of electric motors makes it impossible to create a safe environment, even when the wheels “stalled.” This poses a real, often invisible, danger to anyone who unknowingly approaches the vehicle.

Creating a safe working environment usually takes a long time, especially to deactivate an electric vehicle. However, using the Emergency Plug®, this process can be reduced to a few seconds. This patented device was designed and developed by Dutch firefighters.

How does the Emergency Plug work?

The Emergency Plug is simply plugged into the vehicle’s power outlet and simulates a charging process. All electric vehicles then switch to “P” mode and apply the electric parking brake. The vehicle is immediately securely parked, and emergency personnel can work safely! The Emergency Plug displays its status via LEDs, so it’s easy to see if the vehicle has been disabled.

While each outlet requires different signals, the Emergency Plug simulates the charging protocols specific to each electric vehicle. By providing continuous visual feedback on the electric vehicle’s status, the Emergency Plug® ensures user safety throughout emergency response or during any maintenance procedure, helping to create and maintain a safe working environment.

Main features of the Emergency Plug:

  • Prevents a vehicle from starting under its own power.
  • Provides visual feedback that the outlet is working and properly connected.
  • No contact with high voltage.
  • Significantly reduces time spent in a dangerous work environment.
  • Universal: fits all sockets (type 1 & 2).
  • Can be plugged and unplugged at any time.
  • All electrical systems remain operational (windows, seats, lights, etc.).
  • Compatible with light cars, heavy trucks and buses.
  • Designed for first responders and technicians.

Easy to use

How to Use the Emergency Plug H
– Press the button to start the self-test
– Flashing green light indicates the plug is working properly
– Connect the plug to the vehicle
– Blue light indicates the vehicle is safe

The emergency socket communicates with the electric vehicle by sending two separate signals: PP (Proximity Pilot) and CP (Control Pilot). These signals allow first responders to monitor the connection between the socket and the electric vehicle in real time. The colored display integrated into the emergency socket clearly indicates the current status of the vehicle, making it easier to check connections.

🔌 Proximity Pilot (PP): On a Type 2 socket, this pin informs the vehicle of the type of cable connected; different cable thicknesses can support different current intensities. For Type 1 sockets, it can also signal that the plug will soon be removed.

🔌 Control Pilot (CP): This pin ensures two-way communication between the electric vehicle and the charging system. It allows the emergency socket to transmit information to first responders by displaying different colors on its display, allowing for continuous verification of its proper operation.

The emergency socket recognizes and interprets PP and CP signals to activate the safety protocol specific to each electric vehicle.
